‘Y’ deserves city funds

The "Y" in Seattle was an important part of my life in my early childhood and teen years. The new "Y" in Ketchum is a valuable recreation center for the entire county.

The city of Sun Valley faces many budget challenges left from the previous mayor and council. Reserves have been diminished, grants given to nonprofit groups without council approval and some streets and bike paths neglected and in need of repair.

In the last election, the Sun Valley voters expressed a need for change to fiscal restraint and sound financial management.

On May 15, the council will vote on the budget and individual line items. If, after review of the final budget, and if adequate funds are available, I certainly will vote to fund the "Y" this year.
