Show loyalty to Boy Scouts

The Boy Scouts of America local troops 190 and 6 are looking to replace vandalized and aging items that aid them in doing community service work. They will hold a pancake dinner and silent auction on Saturday, May 17, from 4-8 p.m. at the Community Campus in Hailey.

The pancake dinner will raise funds to replace and repair equipment such as a trailer, a stove and a large canvas tent that was stolen.

Among the projects the local Boy Scouts have completed over the years are installing barbecue facilities at Hop Porter Park in Hailey, building signs for city parks, erecting telephone poles, building and repairing walking paths at the Sawtooth National Recreation Area and organizing blood drives to benefit the Red Cross.

The dinner will feature sourdough pancakes and their "secret" coconut syrup.

"It is clear there is a great need for this fund-raising activity that will help bolster and enable this troop," said troop leader Erik Nilsen.

Everyone is invited to attend. For more information or to donate items to the silent auction, call Erik Nilsen at 720-2112 or Ben Petzinger at (801) 419-7190.
