Community School senior projects run the gamut

Oral presentations set for next week


The topics run the gamut from glass blowing to Georgia O'Keeffe, international travel, rickshaws, commune design, yoga, Basque culture, sailing, driving a race car and photography in South Africa.

Community School students will give their senior project presentations next week for five days at the independent school's theater in Sun Valley. Twenty-nine of the seniors will give 20-minute talks.

Here's a list:

· Monday, May 12: Jessie Curran on South Africa and AIDS education at 3:50 p.m.; Shawnee Brew on San Francisco by the Bag at 4:15 p.m.; Jean Montgomery studying George O'Keeffe at 4:40 p.m.; Taylor Straley on the practice of yoga at 5:05 p.m.; and Caroline Fairchild on the Rolling Stones at 5:25 p.m.

· Tuesday, May 13: Kathryn Farmer on the playwright's life in San Francisco at 1:45 p.m.; Khrystyne Inman on chiropractics in Hailey and Vermont at 2:10 p.m.; Cody Curran on religion in Central Europe at 2:35 p.m.; Jenn Tormey on Seattle glassblowing at 3 p.m.; Max Harris on Costa Rican education at 3:25 p.m.; and Phillip Ruppert on photography in Peru at 4 p.m.

· Wednesday, May 14: Spencer Harris on learning to fly at 1:45 p.m.; Hannah Hennessy on culture in Brazil at 2:10 p.m.; Ashley Bradley on aquatic life in the Bahamas at 2:35 p.m.; Emily Eshman on a Tanzanian orphanage at 3 p.m.; Travis Stone on dive school in Hawaii at 3:25 p.m.; and Connor Brown takes a Patagonian expedition at 3:40 p.m.

· Thursday, May 15: Amaya Ingram on Basque culture 1:45 p.m.; Kingsley Murphy on race car driving at 2:10 p.m.; Christian Dallago going on a Trans-Siberian railroad trip at 2:35 p.m.; Rafael Pena traveling the Northwest at 3 p.m.; Ian Ingram on astronomy and telescopes at 3:25 p.m.; and Mac Whittington with a food tour of the United States at 3:50 p.m.

· Friday, May 16: Jeff Gaecke on rickshaws in India at 1:45 p.m.; Cody Boeger on commune design in San Francisco at 2:10 p.m.; Geoffrey Ruppert on sailing at 2:35 p.m.; Quinn Baser on touring Northwest skateparks at 3 p.m.; Marissa Dreyer on community service in Costa Rica at 3:25 p.m.; and Chloe Lynn on wildlife photography in South Africa at 3:50 p.m.
