It was a beautiful sunny weekend in Idaho Falls and the beautiful game was on display at the 29th annual Idaho Falls Shootout, hosted by the Bonneville Youth Soccer League.

Sawtooth United F.C. sent 11 teams to the tilt, and one, the U-17 boys coached by Cameron Lawler, went 2-1 in pool play to advance to the championships final. SUFC finished runner-up to F.C. Athletico by a 4-0 score. Injuries decimated the team and Sawtooth played a man down in the finals, according to Lawler.

Erika Connelly's U-14 girls went 2-1 and would have gone through to the finals if they'd scored more goals in the point system. Gillian Hatch's U-17 girls compiled a 2-2 record and were one of six SUFC teams to qualify for their respective semifinal matches, including the U-13 girls who won their first game of the season.

SUFC will host its annual Soccer in the Sawtooths tournament, May 10-11 at Hailey Elementary. The tournament, for teams 12-under, features a festival-like atmosphere with a dunking booth, face-painting, barbecue and ice cream social.
