A 37-year-old Hailey man faces theft and drug charges for allegedly stealing from his former roommate and having methamphetamine in his possession at the time of his arrest.

Brett Kloer was arraigned Friday in Blaine County Magistrate Court on two misdemeanor counts of petit theft and a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance. He was released later that day from the Blaine County Jail after posting $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for April 23.

Hailey police Lt. Steve England said Kloer was arrested at the Valley View Apartments on Thursday, April 10, following a theft investigation by the Hailey Police Department.

England said Kloer allegedly stole an "expensive" compound bow and a Graco airless paint sprayer from a former roommate on Berrycreek drive in the Woodside area of southeast Hailey. England said both items, with a total value of about $1,500, were later located at Bob's Sports Pawn & Lock in Hailey, and Kloer was identified as the person who pawned them.

England said a paper packet was found in Kloer's wallet when he was being booked into the jail. The packet contained a small amount of a substance "field tested" as methamphetamine, England said.
