Deadline looms for school trustee election

Incumbent the only one to file as of Thursday

Today is the final day to file a declaration of candidacy for a board of trustees' position with the Blaine County School District.

Only the trustee position for Zone 5, which encompasses the Ketchum-Sun Valley area, is up for election this year. As of Thursday afternoon, only incumbent Trustee Julie Dahlgren, who also serves as the board's vice chairwoman, had filed a declaration.

If no one else files, no election will be held. Otherwise, an election is scheduled for May 20. Declaration-of-candidacy forms are available at the school district office at 118 W. Bullion St. in Hailey. They must be turned in by 5 p.m. today.

Not only has no one else filed, but no one else has even expressed interest, said board Clerk Cathy Zaccardi.

"I've not received any calls of interest whatsoever, and that's a good thing because Julie is a good board member," Zaccardi said.

Zaccardi can be reached at 578-5003.
