Big innings for the Indians led to the loss of two games for the Wood River High School girls' softball team last week in Buhl.
The Indians defeated the Wolverines 5-1 and 9-7 in doubleheader softball action on Tuesday, April 8.
In the first game, the Indians scored three runs in inning six to make a comeback tough for coach Dale Martin's girls. Wolverine hurler Hannah Gove suffered the loss.
Game two was closer, with Wood River leading 4-1 until the Indians sent five runners across the plate in the fifth. Samantha Engel, who pitched for her first time in three weeks, took the loss. Martin said Engel was a "little rusty," coming back from a knee injury.
"I still believe in this team and feel we will be better in districts," said Martin.
The losses dropped the Wolverines to 5-7. The team is 0-2 in district competition.
Friday's doubleheader in Pocatello was cancelled, and the Wolverines hosted Minico Tuesday.
