Two people were transported to St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center following a three-vehicle accident Monday afternoon north of Hailey.

The Blaine County Sheriff's Office reported that Christina M. Reed, a 41-year-old Sun Valley resident, received a head laceration and remained under emergency care at the hospital.

Alice C. Packer, 28, of Ketchum, was treated at St. Luke's for bumps and bruises and released.

The accident occurred at about 4 p.m. on state Highway 75 near Deer Creek Road. The sheriff's office reported that Reed, traveling southbound in a black 2009 GMC pickup, lost control of her vehicle and collided with a northbound Toyota Tacoma driven by Packer.

A third vehicle, a northbound silver 2003 Volvo sport utility vehicle driven by Kerry L. Samudio-Wiethorn, 39, of Hailey, drove onto the east shoulder of the highway and up an embankment to avoid the crash. The sheriff's office reported that the Volvo was not damaged.

The accident blocked both lanes of the highway for more than an hour. Both northbound and southbound traffic was rerouted to Buttercup Road.

The accident remained under investigation Tuesday.
