Paramedics are essential

A nice dinner or your life—what's more important to you?

Imagine a person you love has what looks to be a heart attack. You quickly dial 911 and are told the ambulance will be dispatched immediately. As your loved one is suffering with chest pain you get a call advising that the ambulance has broken down and that another will be dispatched as soon as possible. Fortunately, after a wait of what seems like forever for you and your loved one suffering in pain, the ambulance shows up. An EMT jumps out to the rescue, but the antiquated defibrillator breaks down. Since the lack of interest of the community and city government toward voting to fund top-notch ambulance happened, the EMT ambulance crew is not qualified to provide the care a paramedic could provide, and you begin a white-knuckle race to the hospital in the hope your loved one will survive the trip.

This scenario is not too far fetched and could be the future in the Wood River Valley unless you take the time to vote "yes" for the ambulance levy override.
