Third in a series on winners of the Sun Valley-Ketchum Chamber & Visitors Bureau and Hailey Chamber of Commerce Community Awards.

The Hailey Chamber of Commerce chose two enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to share the Hailey Ambassador of the Year award for 2008. Susan Engelhart and Karen McNary contributed many hours of support over the past year to chamber programs, including; the Fourth of July Parade, Hailey Hometown Holidays, Hailey Spring Festival, the Trailing of the Sheep Festival, Business After Hours and Wake Up With Hailey meetings.

"They were always there and we could always rely on them," said Ambassador Program committee Chairman Marty Miller. "They really pulled us through and performed at such a high level that it was impossible to distinguish between them."

Susan Englehart, a 30-year resident of the Wood River Valley, joined the chamber in 2006. She and her husband, Jeff, own and operate All-Star Properties Management Co.

"I enjoyed helping at the Fourth of July Parade and as a greeter for the Business After Hours meetings," Engelhart said. "I love the social aspect of this job, getting to know people and networking. I have enjoyed all the friendships we have made over the past two years since getting involved with the chamber."

Karen McNary moved to the Wood River Valley in 1989 and immediately began volunteering in the community. She is 2008 president-elect for the Kiwanis Club and works as a commercial loan officer for First Bank of Idaho.

"I enjoy being around people," she said. "There was always a festive atmosphere at the events, so everyone was usually in a good mood.

McNary and Engelhart worked hard to create the atmosphere at Hailey chamber events and improve the mood of the Hailey business community in 2007.

The 2008 Wood River Valley Community Awards are sponsored by First Bank of Idaho, Sun Valley Resort and Momentum Real Estate.
