Casting for Recovery is offering Idaho women in any stage of breast cancer a free, three-day retreat from June 6 through June 8 at the Elk Creek Ranch at Island Park, Idaho.
Casting for Recovery is a national non-profit support and educational program for women who have or have had breast cancer.
Fly-casting improves a woman's spirit and works the recovering muscles in her chest, shoulder and arm as well. With this simple notion, Casting for Recovery was born 12 years ago. To date, Casting for Recovery has held hundreds of retreats all over the country.
Trained facilitators at each retreat include a psychotherapist, a healthcare practitioner and four fly-fishing instructors.
Nationally recognized, the nonprofit organization provides retreats at no cost to the participants, including lodging, meals and professional instruction, though participants are asked to contribute what they can to help support the program. Any woman who has been diagnosed with breast cancer is eligible to attend a retreat, with medical clearance from her physician.
The deadline to apply is Tuesday, April 15. To apply go to castingforrecovery.org, or call (888) 553-3500 or contact Debbee Trent at (208) 384-1787, or Julie Meissner at Sawtooth Fishing Guides in Stanley (208) 774-8768.
