Texas native Mary Cone took the oath of office and was sworn in as city clerk of Hailey last week.

Born and raised in Dallas, Cone came to the Wood River Valley in September 2007. She is filling the office previously held by Heather Dawson, who was recently promoted to city administrator.

"I have always dreamed of living and working in a mountain town," said Cone, who taught skiing at Wolf Creek Pass resort while in college and living in South Fork, Colo. "I love Hailey and I don't miss the traffic in Dallas."

Cone comes to Hailey following 13 years of work with discount brokerage firm Fidelity Investments in Dallas. She worked as a business analyst and broker, while overseeing a group of 400 operations personnel. Her job included liaison work between business personnel and systems personnel at Fidelity. She also owned a calligraphy business in Dallas.

"I look forward to learning how the city works," Cone said.

Her new duties will include payroll, accounts receivable and payable, and the issuance of business licenses.

Cone says she will be working very closely with Dawson as she works into her new job.
