Sign up for BCRD youth track

Tonight in Hailey

Green grass should be more of a common sight in the Wood River Valley by the time the Blaine County Recreation District's 2008 youth track and field program for grade schoolers begins the week of April 14.

The program for kids in grades 1-5 (grades 1-8 at Carey School) culminates each year in the Blaine County/Hershey track and field meet, scheduled for Saturday, May 3 at Derrick Parke Memorial Field in Carey.

Registration for this spring's three-week track and field program will be held tonight, Wednesday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at The Community Campus in Hailey. Fees for four Blaine County elementary schools are $30 including a t-shirt ($25 if you have a shirt) or, at Carey School, the fee is $21 (or $16).

The program run by Piers Lamb and Cameron Randolph at Hailey Elementary School runs Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30 p.m. April 14-30 plus the May 3 meet at Nelson Field in Hailey. Sharon Bowers runs the Woodside program meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:30-3:30 p.m. April 15-May 1 at Woodside plus May 3

Sharon Bowers also coaches the Bellevue Elementary program meeting Mondays and Wednesdays 2:30-3:30 p.m. April 14-30 on the Bellevue playing field. Gary and Cindy Schott coach the Hemingway Elementary School program Mondays and Wednesdays 2:30-3:30 p.m. April 14-30 at Atkinson Park.
