WRHS racquet team singles out Burley 10-2

Wolverines move to 3-0 on season


    Wood River High School tennis players kept the good times rolling Tuesday, taking their first Great Basin Conference West dual meet 10-2 over the Burley Bobcats, in Burley.
    Coach Vicki Johnston’s Wolverines (3-0) swept the six singles matches at Burley and won both mixed doubles matches. Carlos Neme, Alex Henning, Jordan Niedrich, Anna Chrysikopoulos, Maya Diem and Allison Rust won singles for Wood River.
    The Wolverines hosted The Community School of Sun Valley on Thursday for eight-game pro sets at Copper Ranch in Hailey. Wood River visits Hillcrest Saturday in Idaho Falls.

    Results from Tuesday:

    Boys’ singles: #1—Carlos Neme (WR) 6-4, 6-1 over Logan Nielson (B). #2—Alex Henning (WR) 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 over Jordan Hammond (B). #3—Jordan Niedrich (WR) 6-0, 6-0 over Trent Hansen (B).
    Girls’ singles: #1—Anna Chrysikopoulos (WR) 6-1, 6-0 over Caitlin Carlquist (B). #2—Maya Diem (WR) 6-1, 6-1 over Kim Hickenlooper (B). #3—Allison Rust (WR) 6-4, 6-2 over Sam Crane (B).
    Boys’ doubles: #1—Tom Whipple and  Brent Lee (B) 6-4, 6-3 over R.J. Forgeon and Brendan Freund (WR). #2—William Eagan and Morgan Pike (WR) 6-1, 6-1 over Kade Carpenter and Alex Greener (B).
    Girls’ doubles: #1—Kim Ashton and Alex Haynie (B) 6-2, 6-2 over Kami Doan and Tessa Barrow (WR). #2—Jessica Hamilton and Ellen Davis (WR) 6-4, 6-1 over Heather Carlquist and Makena Haynie (B).
    Mixed doubles: #1—Karl Fostvedt and Tanya Greenwood (WR) 6-2, 6-2 over Riley Christenson and Chelsi Funk (B). #2—Ben Leopold and Ainsley Gourlay (WR) 6-1, 6-0 over Luis Miramontes and Jacey Blauer (B).
