Skistakes winners announced

Robert and Peter Woelz of Bellevue, Wash., won the Sun Valley-Ketchum Chamber & Visitors Bureau's Friedlpfiefer Skistakes competition for their blog posting "Making Memories" on the chamber's Web site.

The Woelzes were back in town after their winning effort earned them four nights lodging from ResortQuest, four days of lift tickets from Sun Valley Co., two pairs of ski goggles from Scott USA, $150 in Chamber Choice gift certificates and two all-access passes to the 48 Straight festival, held earlier this month.

Spring into running

Spring registration is under way for Girls on the Run of the Wood River Valley, a nonprofit organization formed to promote physical activity and enhanced self-esteem in girls. The season will begin Monday, April 7, and run through the Wondergirl 5k race and Healthy Living Expo on Saturday, May 17. The groups will meet at each of the valley's elementary schools: Hemingway, Hailey, Woodside and Bellevue. The six-week program is for third- through fifth-grade girls and meets after school. Registration forms are available at the schools, or online at www.girlsontherunwrv.org.

Revisit the King of the Mountain

The finals of the Jeep King of the Mountain series, the competition side of 48 Straight, will be on national television this weekend, with CBS showing the ski-cross and boarder-cross events at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, and 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 30.

The program will include the events that took place on Sun Valley's Dollar Mountain on Friday and Saturday, March 14 and 15. Some of the world's best skiers and snowboarders will be part of the televised action, including Daron Rahlves, Tomas Kraus and Ketchum native Graham Watanabe.

First Bank of Idaho supports ERC

First Bank of Idaho announced that it will donate $1 to the Environmental Resource Center, Jackson Community Recycling or Teton Valley Recycling for each account that is enrolled in e-Statements as part of its "Go Green" campaign.

Donations to each organization will depend on the location of the account enrolled, limited to 4,000 accounts total.

The campaign initiates the bank's effort to help reduce paper output for consumer- and business-account holders, as well as to support local recycling programs. For more information, contact Jan Super at 622-1154.

Time to put tree lights away

Ketchum residents and business owners are required to remove holiday lights on publicly owned trees, including those in city sidewalks and public rights of way, by Tuesday, April 15.

Exceptions to the deadline may be made by the city arborist only, and any work performed on public trees must be undertaken by a person holding a tree permit issued by the city, which is available at www.ketchum.org.
