Bike rider hits pedestrian in Ketchum

By TERRY SMITH
Express Staff Writer

A bicycle rider ended up at St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center after he crashed into a pedestrian in Ketchum early Saturday morning.

Ketchum police spokeswoman Kim Rogers described the man as a 32-year-old Ketchum resident but declined to release his name, saying the accident was not investigated by Ketchum police, nor can the man be charged with a crime because he was not operating a "motorized vehicle."

The mishap occurred about 2:45 a.m. at the intersection of First Avenue and Sixth Street in west Ketchum. Rogers said the bike rider suffered head injuries and the pedestrian was not injured.

"Can you imagine?" Rogers said. "You're walking home at 2:30 in the morning and a bike comes along and clobbers you. Where the hell did that come from?"
