A warm, early-spring day brought seven Great Basin Conference boys' golf teams to Jerome Country Club, where Pocatello won Wednesday's seven-team, 18-hole meet by a large margin with 312 points.
Individual medalists, both from Pocatello, were Ryan Pearson and Mark Collins, 73s.
Wood River High School (329) just barely missed second place, as Burley (328) took the spot. Wolverine scorers were Chance McCroskey and Crockett Stearns with 80s, Brian Town 84 and Jonathan Hobbs 85. Other Wolverines were Patrick Gove 92, Rex Nilsen 98 and Patrick McMahon 100.
Other team scores were Jerome 338, Century of Pocatello 343, Minico of Rupert 358 and Preston 394.
The meet was played one day after Wood River's Hobbs carded his first-ever hole-in-one, at Jerome Country Club. On his 16th birthday, Hobbs used a 5-iron to ace the 150-yard par 3 fifth hole. His witnesses, playing a practice round together, were teammates McCroskey, Stearns and Town.
