Ketchum's Community and Economic Development Department bolstered its ability to handle two recent hotel applications by hiring community planning and urban affairs specialist Nathan B. Warren.

Community and Economic Development Director Lisa Horowitz issued a news release Thursday, March 13, stating that Warren will join the staff at City Hall on March 20.

Warren, who hails from Blacksburg, Va., holds a master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University's College of Architecture and Urban Studies and School of Public and International Affairs.

The addition of Warren's skill set comes none too soon, as the developers for the large-scale Warm Springs Ranch Resort project are set to come before the city April 1 for their first public meeting.

In addition, the city will soon hold hearings on the Hotel Ketchum application, which, if approved, would trigger the redevelopment of Trail Creek Village at the city's southern entrance.

Most recently, Warren worked at Design Nine Inc. in Virginia, where he conducted demographic analysis of communities, which addressed economic development and infrastructure master planning.

"Adding (Warren's) skills to our office will enable us to conduct the most thorough reviews possible of pending hotel development projects," Horowitz stated.
