A day for the dogs at Sun Valley

A male West Highland white terrier named Oboe, owned by Hemingway Elementary student Jamie Graninger, was awarded the ?Little Stinker? award presented to the smallest dog in the field.

March blew in with biting winds Sunday for the 23rd edition of the Paw n' Pole cross-country and snowshoe event at Sun Valley Nordic Center.

But spirits were fine for the Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley's fund-raiser, and the shelter dogs, among others, were on their best behavior.

There are about 60 dogs awaiting adoption because of recent heavy surrenders, according to Paw n' Pole co-organizer Andrea Nelson.

"It would be helpful if anyone would consider adopting," she said.

Here are results from Sunday's event that was also organized by Bobby Noyes and Doran Key:
