Jaquet receives award

House Minority Leader Wendy Jaquet, D-Ketchum, was presented Sunday with "The Lifetime Achievement Award" for the Outstanding Democratic Woman In Idaho. Blaine County Democrats Chair Betty Murphy presented the award along with an opal necklace from Custer County and flowers.

Murphy presented the award on behalf of the Idaho Democratic Women's Caucus on Sunday morning as part of the Frank Church Banquet in Boise. The Frank Church Banquet is the Idaho Democratic Party's largest annual fundraiser.

"Wendy is real powerhouse in this state," Murphy said in a Tuesday interview. "I don't know if we really appreciate her in Blaine County, how powerful she really is."

Become a super sitter

St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center is sponsoring a teen course, "Super Sitter: Intro to Babysitting," from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 8, in the St. Luke's Wood River Baldy Conference Room. The cost is $15.

Spanish Health Fair slated

St. Luke's Center for Community Health will hold its sixth annual Spanish Health Fair, 6-7 p.m. Friday, March 7, (el viernes, el 7 de Marzo) at the Community Campus in Hailey.

Professionals will discuss healthy families, family dynamics and alcohol, as well as books that have information on everything from cancer to cholesterol.

Blood pressure checks, car seat inspection, registration for mammograms, CPR classes and first aid will also be offered.

Rotarun to hold family day

The Rotarun Ski Club will host a Family Fun Day, Sunday, March 9. The Parent-Child Team Race will begin with registration from 8:30-10 a.m. The race will take off at 11 a.m. Format will be a dual giant slalom. Cost is $20 per team.

(Participants may also register on Saturday, March 8, at Rotarun from 2-4 p.m.)

To replace or not to replace

St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center will offer its "brown bag" lecture on hormone replacement from 12:15-1:15 p.m. Thursday, March 6, in the Baldy Conference Room.

Led by Ob/Gyn Dr. Nicole Menegakis, it will address questions and concerns about hormone replacement, and will help women make the appropriate choice.
