A 13-year-old Hailey girl spent Friday night at St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center after she was struck by a vehicle in Hailey earlier that evening.

The mishap occurred shortly before 9 p.m. near the Bigwood4 Cinema on Main Street.

Hailey Police Chief Jeff Gunter said the victim was chasing another 13-year-old Hailey girl in the vicinity of the theater when both of them ran into the roadway. Several vehicles missed the pair, but a 1990 Chevrolet truck driven by David Riemann, 35, of Hailey, struck the girl doing the chasing.

Gunter said the girl didn't appear to be badly injured but was kept at the hospital for observation and was released the following day.

The police chief declined to release the names of the girls, saying the incident is still under investigation and that charges could potentially be filed against one or both of the girls. Gunter said no charges will be filed against Riemann.
