SVSEF?s Farrow wins Wright slalom at Park City

Fastest J3 of 57, Sweek also podiums

Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation second-year J3 (ages 13-14) alpine racer Tanner Farrow had it all going Saturday on Picabo's run at Utah's Park City Mountain Resort.

Farrow laid down the fastest second run to beat Jackson Hole's Max Martin by .40 seconds. One of the first-run leaders, Miles Sweek of the Hailey Ski Team, hung on to podium in third place among the boys.

It was a good day for the 30 SVSEF and Hailey skiers among 133 boys and girls who started the first of two days of the David Wright Memorial J3 qualifying races.

Connor Farrow and Harlan Collins of Sun Valley placed 7th and 10th in boys' slalom, and Teagen Palmer was 6th among the girls. On Sunday, Palmer was 5th and Hailey's Amanda Stelling 7th in giant slalom.

Meanwhile, older skiers competed in the Intermountain Division's Snowbird Intermountain Cup slaloms March 1-2 on Wilbere Ridge Race Hill at Snowbird, Utah.

Soldier Mountain Racing's Alisa Durkheimer was 4th overall and the 3rd J1 (ages 17-18) in Saturday's women's slalom, then she came close to those results with a 6th overall and 4th class result Sunday. In all, there were 20 locals in the 116-racer field for two days of slalom racing.
