Lands are not only for sheep

So the Phantom Hill wolves are killing sheep. I don't blame them. Lamb chops are very tasty. As far as a solution to the problem, it looks like Idaho Fish and Game will handle this like they handle most issues—kill them. Idaho can't wait to get their hands on the wolves so we can all go dog hunting.

Since most Americans, and especially public-sector types, only look at issues from an economic perspective, let's look at which alternative brings in the most revenue for the community. The money government receives from grazing permits pales in comparison to the economic value the wolves provide from tourist dollars. This has been proven over and over in Yellowstone. Also, for anyone who has had even fundamental biology, another major value the wolves provide is culling out old and diseased deer and elk. This keeps the populations healthy.

Quite frankly, I would much rather see wolves in the wild than sheep. I have had a couple of very unsettling encounters with sheep guard dogs. The lands that are leased belong to everyone—not just sheep ranchers.
