Lamb nails down gold in moves test

Sun Valley figure skater

Competitive figure skater Julianna Lamb became a U.S. Figure Skating gold medalist in moves at a test session conducted during the recent Idaho Winter Games in Sun Valley.

This achievement is the culmination of eight years of year-round weekly training. It marks a progression through eight different progressively challenging test levels where the quality of edges, balance, speed, power, presentation and overall skating are evaluated by a panel of U.S. Figure Skating Association judges.

Julianna began skating on the outdoor rink at Sun Valley in the "Skate-With-Us" program and has trained locally with coaches Holly Wheeler, Gia Guddat, Darlin Baker and Craig Heath. She has performed in the Sun Valley summer ice shows and twice had the lead role of Clara in the Christmas Eve Ice Show.

Julianna is a ninth grader at The Community School, where she is on the honor roll. The daughter of Patrick and Joan Lamb of Sun Valley has been a Girl Scout for nine years. She has earned Girl Scout bronze and silver Awards for planning and executing community service projects, as well as the Bronze Congressional Award.

Several other Sun Valley skaters participated in the Idaho Winter Games USFSA Test session. Earning passing marks were Alexandra Harten for Intermediate Moves, and Lex Shapiro, Renee Shapiro, and Abby Chase for Preliminary Moves. Lex and Renee Shapiro also passed Pre-Preliminary Freeskate.
