The 8th-grade Sun Valley Storm girls basketball team swept the Idaho Youth Ranch's annual tournament on Feb. 8 and 9 without a loss.

After receiving a bye in the first round of the seven-team, double-elimination tournament, the girls met Burley and won by a score of 44-17. Then they went on to play Minico and won by a score of 41-30. Minico came back around through the losers' bracket and the Storm defeated them again by a score of 43-30.

The girls won with a high-pressure defense and by pressing most of the time, making it difficult for the other teams to advance the ball.

The Storm girls were led by MVP Kaitana Martinez, who averaged 17 ppg for the tournament. Other strongholds were Cheyenne Swanson with 8 ppg and Tristin Bowers with 6 ppg.
