The Blaine County Recreation District will hold a public meeting next Wednesday evening to discuss preliminary recreation plans associated with future possible development in Quigley Canyon east of Hailey.

District Executive Director Jim Keating said that golf and Nordic skiing opportunities for Quigley Canyon are being discussed with the developer and the city of Hailey.

An 18-hole golf course has been discussed that would include a clubhouse and restaurant that could be utilized in the winter by cross-country skiers.

Keating said objectives of the recreation district are to provide "affordable, accessible golf," and an "enhanced Nordic destination" in Quigley Canyon.

Though not billed as a public hearing, the district is requesting public feedback.

"We've flushed out some possibilities for golf and Nordic and we're trying to get some public opinion at this point," Keating said.

The meeting is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Distance Learning Center at Wood River High School, 1250 Fox Acres Road, in Hailey. The public is also invited to an "open house" starting at 6:30 p.m. at the same location.

A plan put forth for Quigley Canyon Ranch east of Hailey calls for annexing the land into the city and developing 379 home sites and various recreational amenities. It has not yet been formally reviewed by the city.
