Support Edwards

We are writing in support of Sen. John Edwards. We know that our system in Washington is broken, and Edwards is the only candidate standing by his conviction by not taking special-interest contributions, so that as president he can take on the system.

As environmentalists, we are supporting Edwards for his leadership on energy and environmental issues. His strong plan was set forth six months before those of Sen.s Obama and Clinton. (Edwards was endorsed by Friends of the Earth Action, the first endorsement by a national environmental group.

Edwards understands how a clean-energy economy can rebuild America's economic strength and competitiveness nationally, as well as in urban and rural communities where it is most needed.

Edwards leads on health care and poverty alleviation.

The polls show Edwards as the most electable in the general, and we know that the most important thing for voters in November is knowing that a candidate has strength and conviction.

Sen. Edwards is a truth-teller, stands with conviction on issues he believes in and does not base his positions on polls. We hope that the media will cover him enough that others will see that here is a principled and electable candidate. Finally, he is a good man, with an amazing woman by his side; Elizabeth Edwards is brilliant, his top adviser and so strong; we believe it speaks volumes about John.

Edwards is fighting a system of injustice, as stated by Martin Luther King III in support of his candidacy. He's just not one of the two celebrity candidates, but we are convinced he is best for America, and best for Idaho, and hope others will join us when we caucus for him on Feb. 5.
