Save our future

There are many important issues in this world, but to me the most important one is climate change. As a student, I know that the impacts of global warming will become stronger, and more apparent, in my lifetime. To me, climate change is just as important to my future as school. This is why I have dedicated a good deal of my time to fighting climate change. I want to have the best possible future, and a good future involves a livable environment.

I wish people cared more about climate change; I know I can make a difference, but I also know that I can't do it alone. I really hope that the citizens of the Wood River Valley will try to be part of a solution, for the sake of young people everywhere. I feel that we are all entitled to a healthy environment, and I certainly don't want the adults of this valley and this nation to take that away from my friends, my classmates or me.

That being said, I would like to formally invite all of you to a screening of the movie "Kilowatt Ours" followed by a discussion on climate change with our local leaders. In addition, you will have a chance to "vote for change" and weigh in on possible solutions. This event will take place at the Liberty Theatre in Hailey from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31. This is a part of Focus the Nation, a national day dedicated to educating the nation on climate change and what we can do about it. E-mail ftn@communityschool.org for more information.
