Come mid-February, Sun Valley will take advantage of the talents of longtime Wood River Valley city planner Diane Shay, who will take over as the city's new principal planner.

After a recommendation from Sun Valley Community Development Director Mark Hofman and interviews with Mayor Wayne Willich and interim City Administrator Jerry Osterman, Shay was appointed to the position. She will start work on Feb. 19.

Shay has plenty of experience in her field, having worked for the past seven years as city planner for Hailey. Prior to that she was in Bellevue, as a Planning and Zoning Commission member from 1994 to 1996 and planning and zoning administrator from 1996 to 2001.

In a news release on Wednesday, Jan. 23, Osterman said Shay was chosen because of her knowledge of the issues in Blaine County and the fact that she lives in the valley.

"We are really lucky to get her," Osterman said in an interview. "When taking into account relocation, it becomes extremely hard to find qualified people."
