Five-year Hailey resident Mark Spears was sworn in for a three-year term on the Hailey Planning and Zoning Commission Tuesday night. His appointment by Mayor Rick Davis fills the last of five seats on the commission, which reviews planning projects and proposed changes to planning and zoning regulations.

Spears will serve alongside Stefanie Marvel, Owen Scanlon, Michael Pogue and Geoffrey Moore.

"I moved here to raise a family and I am interested in serving the city," said Spears, who hails from Southern California.

Spears works as a senior lending specialist at J.P Morgan Chase. As a P&Z commissioner, he said, he intends to address issues surrounding new subdivisions.

"I'd like to keep the big box stores out and avoid sprawl," he said. "We moved here for the small-town feel and I would like to see Hailey stay that way."
