Historian to appear on 'GMA'

ABC's morning show "Good Morning America" will air an interview with Sun Valley resident and historian Chris Millspaugh on Sunday, Jan. 20, at 6:45 a.m. The spot was shot at the historic Ernest Hemingway House in Ketchum on Sunday, Jan. 13. Producer for ABC News in Los Angeles Tracy Marx conducted the interview off camera.

Meet new face at visitor center

The Sun Valley-Ketchum Chamber & Visitors Bureau this week announced the addition of a new visitor center employee. Sara Kilmer, a transplant from Kansas City, joined the organization Jan. 7.

She was attracted to the job with the chamber because of the opportunity to be involved with the community and to meet interesting people from all over the world, a news release stated.

School district seeking public input

The Blaine County School District is seeking public input for its Strategic Planning Process through an online survey called SWOT. The process is intended to guide the district's planning for the next six to eight years.

SWOT stands for "strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats" in regards to the district. Information from the surveys will be compiled and analyzed by the district's Strategic Planning Team at the end of January.

The deadline is Friday, Jan. 18.

Ski Free Day this Sunday

A Ski Free Day is offered Sunday, Jan. 20, courtesy of the Blaine County Recreation District, Sturtevants in Hailey and Galena Lodge.

The event is being held to offer the public a chance to try skate skiing. North Valley Trails and Quigley Trails will have free skiing. Mini-clinics will be available at Quigley, in Hailey, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday. Galena Lodge north of Ketchum will offer free learning-to-ski clinics on Saturday, Jan. 18.

Obama gathering slated

On Saturday, Jan. 19, at 1 p.m., the group Blaine County for Obama will meet at Whiskey Jacques' in Ketchum for a Nevada caucus-watch party.

The Nevada caucus runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. Whiskey's doors will open at 1 p.m.

The Idaho caucus will be Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the Community Campus, in Hailey.
