Damphools will play Fresshies in Hailey for New Year?s Eve.

It's time to get out the silly hats and noisemakers, say goodbye to 2007 and a big hello to 2008. If it's a night out on the town you seek, never fear--the valley is awash in possibilities.

No need to stay in with the little ones. Sun Valley will host several parties that appeal to all ages.

For youngsters 18 months to 5 years, a party will be held in the Sun Valley Playschool from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. There will be snacks provided and for any sleepy heads who're not being over-stimulated by all the activities, there are sleeping facilities available, too. For reservations call 622-2288.

Consider starting the evening in the Sun Valley Inn Lobby Lounge or the Duchin Room, where the Paul Tillotson Trio will play from 5 to 8:30 p.m. followed by dancing to the Sun Valley Trio at 9:30 p.m.

For the older set through age 14, the party will run from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Sun Valley Inn's Continental Room. Snacks, drinks, games and adult supervision will be provided. For reservations, call 622-2135.

Sun Valley also has two options for adults to toast in the new year. The Sun Valley Lodge Dining Room will host a three-course New Year's Eve dinner at 8 p.m. with champagne, dancing and live music by the Sun Valley Trio. For reservations, call 622-2800.

The annual Limelight New Year's Eve Party is the only place in town that will feature dancing, thanks to the live swing sounds of the High Street Band. The party will kick off at 9 p.m. and will offer exquisite hors d'oeuvre buffets and cash bars. As well, there will be complimentary party favors, a champagne toast and entertainment provided by ice dancers Irina and Mikhail Grigorian. For reservations, call 622-2135.

If something new and kind of rustic suits your fancy, try Papa Hemi's Hideaway (formerly Trail Creek Pub) in Ketchum, where chef Lynn Sheehan will create an Idaho-style new year's celebration. The Hideaway will have a first seating from 5 to 7:15 p.m. with a multi-course dinner. In addition, a special young adult's three-course menu will be available including that favorite standby non-alcoholic cocktail, a Shirley Temple.

A second seating from 8:15 to 10 p.m. will include a champagne apéritif and multi-course dinner. There will be live jazz all night by the Michael Frew Duo. For reservations, call 726-3773.

In Ketchum, Whiskey Jacques will begin selling tickets on Monday, Jan. 31, at 4 p.m. for its New Year's Eve party with live music by Soul Purpose. The Roosevelt Tavern & Grille will also host a New Year's Eve party after dinner at 10 p.m. with DJ PB 'n' Jilly. The $25 cover will include a complimentary champagne toast at midnight and favors.

"It's been pretty crazy there every year," Roosevelt Tavern owner Tom Nickel said. "Good crazy."

Across the street at Nickel's other venue, The Sawtooth Club, there will also be complimentary hats, favors and a free champagne toast at midnight.

The Mint will host a Karaoke Extravaganza with a grand prize of $5,000. Tickets are $10 and the contest will begin at 9 p.m.

Ringing in the new year at Fresshies in Hailey will be free live music by the Damphools. Bellevue festivities include a celebration at the Silver Dollar Saloon with music by Baseline Road. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Good luck and drive safely.
