Countdown to the Boulder Tour is on

Register in January

The 33rd annual Wells Fargo Boulder Mountain Ski Tour is about five weeks away, and only the first 1,000 cross-country skiers who register will be accepted into the field for the marathon event.

Save money registration deadline is Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 for the $85 fee ($40 for kids ages 17-and-under). After Jan. 19 and up until the final registration deadline of Tuesday, Jan. 29, at midnight, the cost will be $100 per person.

The 32-kilometer wave start Nordic race begins Saturday, Feb. 2, at 10 a.m. from Senate Meadows near Galena Lodge 23 miles north of Ketchum. The course drops 1,100 feet in elevation over the nearly 20-mile distance and finishes by the Sawtooth National Recreation Area headquarters building.

Age classes, 16 in all, range in five-year increments from 12-and-under to 85-and-over. A skier's age class for the Boulder Mountain Tour is figured by the skier's age on Jan. 1, 2008.

The Boulder Mountain Tour Expo and bib pick-up is Friday, Feb. 1, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Wood River Community YMCA in Ketchum. After the Feb. 2 race, the awards ceremony will occur from 6-7:15 p.m. in the Limelight Room of Sun Valley Inn.

And then you can take it easy and put your feet up for Super Bowl Sunday Feb. 3.
