2008 Predictions

By CHRIS MILLSPAUGH

It's difficult to predict anything nowadays, but I believe this is what's going to happen next year:

- Larry Craig will be arrested at the Boise Zoo for trying to proposition a seal in the next stall. He will deny everything, quit his Senate seat and run for office in November on the Gay Animal Rights ticket.

- The writers' strike will continue for all of 2008, leaving only game shows, re-runs and reality programs for the public to watch. Al Gore will win the Emmy for his quiz show, "Who's On Crack?"

- Mitt Romney fails in his November bid for the presidency, resurrects "Enron," becomes CEO and sells stock to all his Republican backers.

- A local TV channel creates a 24-hour live interview program called "The Early Morning, Dawn, Mid-morning, Noon, Mid-afternoon, Early Evening, Suppertime, Evening, Midnight and Late Night Show."

- Movie remakes will continue to be made as no one can write an original screenplay any longer. The following titles are already in production for the new year: "The Return Trip To Bountiful," "Meet Joe Black Again," "The Graduate With Honors," "The Remarriage of Figaro," "The 5th of July," "Law and Reorder," "D-Day and Night," "4:10 To Yuma," "Three On A Seesaw," "Make Another Room for Daddy," "Heaven Can Still Wait" and "More of the President's Men."

- Odd marriages will be the general theme next year as the following unions will take place: Sean and Helen Hayes, Hillary and George Clinton, Kobe and Anita Bryant, Diane and Jack Lane, Roger and Samuel Clemens, Babe and Dr. Ruth, Amy and Cary Grant, and Brittany and Ariel Spears will all tie the knot in '08.

- New Wood River Valley hotels with a local historical theme will be built to encourage more tourists to the area. They will include: "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag Tourist Court," "The Picabo Plaza," "The Hayley Mills Hotel," "The Bellevue Tolls Inn," "Gary Cooper's Cabins" and "The Bill Janns' Joint."

I hope this list of predictions will help you make your plans for the coming year. Happy New Year to all. Thank you for your support. Always a pleasure and nice talking to you.
