The elk were here first

In the almost 30 years we have been in this wonderful area, I think the lawsuit against The Community School by the Sagewillow homeowners was the most silly.

Do you, Ed Lawson and homeowners, realize that the name of this beautiful valley is "Elkhorn." Where do you think the name originated?

Before any of us built homes in this valley there were Indians, and elk, and people riding horses here. Some 25-plus years ago when this valley was developed, the Dumke family, concerned about the many elk in the valley, began to put out feed to help them survive the difficult winters.

For you to come here so many years later and build your homes here and to file such a horrid lawsuit is really unconscionable. Did you not see the elk here when you built your homes?

You really must dislike The Community School to sue them; they had nothing to do with this. Why don't you sue all of the homeowners of Elkhorn who have been here for more years than you; who have watched and supported the feeding of these beautiful animals each winter? Guess what? They eat our shrubs also when there is nothing else to eat.

You really should rethink whether you even want to be here. Are you going to go after the foxes next?
