Sun Valley Youth Hockey Association product Cody Lampl, 21, is getting plenty of ice time so far this season with one of the best Division 1 men's hockey teams in the U.S.
Lampl is a 5-11, 171-pound junior forward and defenseman with the Colorado College Tigers, coached by ninth-year mentor Scott Owens. The Tigers (11-5, 11-3 league) are currently tied with Denver University for first place in the 10-team Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA).
Colorado College has outscored opponents 35-11 in winning nine of its last 11 games prior to the holiday break. The only losses in that stretch were 3-2 at Denver Nov. 24 and 4-2 Dec. 15 at St. Cloud State.
Lampl has one shorthanded goal and two assists in 13 games for the Tigers.
Colorado College was ranked fourth in the USCHO.com/CSTV Division 1 men's college hockey poll for the week of Dec. 17, behind Miami, Michigan and Denver.
The Tigers resume play Dec. 29-30 against RPI and Massachusetts at the Lightning Classic tournament in Tampa, Fla.
Last winter Lampl was a member of the Colorado College squad that ended up fifth in the WCHA with an overall record of 18-17-4 and league tally of 13-12-3. The Tigers fell in the first round of the WCHA playoffs to Michigan Tech.
