Woodside Park receives $10,000
The Hailey Parks & Lands Board presented a $10,000 check to Mayor Susan McBryant at a City Council meeting on Monday, Dec. 10.
Board President Steve Keefer said the funds, all received from private donations, would be used for trees in the eight-acre Woodside Park.
"This is the culmination of a 10-year project," Keefer said.
Tanning Service to host BAH
The Sun Valley-Ketchum Chamber & Visitors Bureau's December Business After Hours will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Tanning Service, 271 Second Ave. North in Ketchum.
Businesses are encouraged to use this monthly gathering as an opportunity to network with other members.
NAMI announces new president
The National Alliance on Mental Illness, Wood River Affiliate announced that Gail Miller Wray is the nonprofit organization's new president.
Wray, a longtime visitor to Sun Valley, is now a permanent resident. She recently retired from federal government service. She was active in the Virginia and Wisconsin NAMI affiliates.
Also hired, as a part-time assistant, was Hailey resident Ron Wall. This position was made possible by a grant from the Wood River Women's Charitable Foundation.

Chamber certificates available
The Sun Valley-Ketchum Chamber & Visitors Bureau is selling Chamber Choice Gift Certificates at the Visitor Information Center at 251 Washington St. in Ketchum.
The certificates, in denominations of $25, can be redeemed at more than 100 Sun Valley, Ketchum, Hailey and Bellevue chamber member businesses.
"The gift certificates offer recipients a wealth of shopping choices and also promote local shopping, which benefits the community," Membership and Visitor Services Director Stefany Mahoney said.
Out-of-towners who would like to send a gift certificate to a Wood River resident can call the Visitor Information Center to have the gift certificates delivered. "We'll hand write the greeting and mail it to the lucky recipient," Mahoney said.

Learn relaxation techniques
St. Luke's Center for Community Health will host a free "Brown Bag" lecture on Guided Imagery for Relaxation and Improving Health, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center, in the Baldy Conference Room.
St. Luke's social worker Gay Miremont will provide information on strategy and conduct an experiential exercise in guided imagery.

Baldy Biscuit helps animal shelter
The Ketchum-based Baldy Biscuit Co. will make its dog treats widely available with its new Web site, www.baldybiscuit.com, which should be running no later than Dec. 20.
The company will continue its mission to support the Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley and its no-kill policy by donating 10 percent of all proceeds.
Care for Idaho's environment
The Idaho Environmental Summit 2007 started Monday, Dec. 11, and will run through Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Doubletree Hotel in Boise from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. National, state and tribal professionals as well as conservation groups, businesses, academics and citizens will gather for the second annual summit.
The event will feature seven premier keynote presentations from speakers such as Richard Louv, author of "Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder."

Idaho's Bounty announces new pick-up area
Idaho's Bounty, a locally run nonprofit that provides fresh, organic, locally grown food from Southern Idaho to shoppers in the area, has two pick-up locations for orders placed in each order period.
In Ketchum, the pick-up is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Hemingway School. In Hailey, the new pick-up area is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory at 701 Fourth Ave South. Home delivery is still available for a charge of $15 within a three-mile radius of each town or $20 outside that radius.
