Geoff Moore, who ran an unsuccessful campaign for Hailey City Council Seat No. 4 in November's city election, found another way into City Hall when he was appointed by Mayor Susan McBryant to a three-year term on the Planning and Zoning Commission on Monday, Dec. 10.

"I had talked to Susan about the position, but didn't know I was getting it until she said my name," Moore said Tuesday. "I'm quite happy with the appointment."

Over the past two years, Moore has become a fixture at both council and commission meetings, describing himself as a citizen's advocate during his bid for Rick Davis's soon-to-be-vacant council seat. This commitment and interest in city politics was not lost on McBryant or the council members, who unanimously approved the mayor's nomination.

"It's about time you start getting paid for coming to the meetings," Councilwoman Carol Brown said.

Commissioners Nancy Linscott and Elizabeth Zellers will be stepping down after their terms are completed in January.

Planning Director Beth Robrahn said there is no deadline to fill the second seat, but hopes that the commission won't go shorthanded for long.
