A 31-year-old Hailey man has been charged with felony domestic violence for allegedly strangling and head-butting his live-in girlfriend last week at the couple's home in Hailey.

David A. Breed was charged Monday afternoon in Blaine County Magistrate Court with "felony domestic violence, traumatic injury." He has been released from the Blaine County Jail on $10,000 bond.

The charge against Breed stems from an alleged altercation at the couple's home at about 11 p.m. last Friday evening on Almond Street in Hailey's China Garden area.

Hailey Police Chief Jeff Gunter said police were dispatched to the home after Breed called for an ambulance. Gunter said the alleged victim, age 30, was found by police in a wooded area about a block from the couple's home. He said the woman had "multiple injuries, including strangulation marks around her neck" and other cuts and bruises.

"He allegedly strangled her and allegedly head-butted her in the nose," Gunter said. "There were allegations that she had been beaten."

He said the woman declined to be transported to a hospital and returned to her home and Breed was taken into custody.
