Two women were taken to St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center and the vehicles they were driving were towed from the scene following a two-car accident near Ketchum Tuesday morning.
Dispatch received the emergency call at 9:49 a.m. and personnel from Blaine County, Ketchum and Sun Valley responded to the vehicle collision at the intersection of Elkhorn Road and state Highway 75.
Sheriff's Deputy Dale Stocking said eyewitnesses reported that a northbound 1994 green Mercury Sable collided with a southbound Toyota Land Cruiser.
"She failed to stop, colliding with the Toyota attempting to turn left and go south on Highway 75," Stocking said. "Both drivers were transported to St. Luke's for treatment."
Dick York's Towing removed both vehicles from the scene. The Mercury, a sedan, looked like it took the lion's share of the punishment with extensive damage to its front end and engine block. The gray Toyota Land Cruiser incurred damage to its front bumper and left fender.
