Nadya Conway

Nadya Conway, beloved wife of Richard Conway, has left this life at the young age of 58, following an eight-year battle with cancer. Her strength and courage throughout the battle was and will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew her.

Nadya was born in Spokane, Wash., to Charles and Renata Treffry in 1948. She moved to Long Beach with her family in 1950 where she attended St. Bartholomew elementary school, St. Anthony High School and Cal State University Long Beach, where she obtained a master's degree and teaching credential. She was an innovative teacher who made learning a joy for her young students. When she left teaching she acquired a real estate brokers license and operated her own very successful real estate sales company in Long Beach for over 20 years.

Nadya and Richard were high school sweet hearts. Their deep love for each other for the past 42 years was evident to everyone they encountered. After both retired from full-time work it would be rare to see one of them without the other. They were a common sight in Naples and Belmont Shore walking their dog, Fred.

They began spending half their time at their mountain home in Hailey, Idaho, and were soon followed to Idaho by many family members and friends. Nadya loved nature. Her Iditarod dog sled trips, grizzly bear adventures, snowmobiling in Yellowstone, kayaking in Glacier Bay and quad riding in Idaho are legendary. Her greatest qualities were her compassion for people and her love of life. If you were in Nadya's presence you could not help but be inspired. She is remembered as a beautiful loving, giving and energetic spirit who brought out the best in everyone she touched.

In addition to her husband, Nadya is survived by her siblings, Silvana Raiola, Wendy Henning, Viviana Davies, Dennis Treffry, Raoul Treffry and Allan Treffry. Prior to her death, Nadya instructed that there would be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, her ashes will be scattered over the trails she hiked near her Idaho home. Nadya asked that her family and friends honor her desire and celebrate her life in their hearts.
