Spending a Thanksgiving in the Wood River Valley can be a rewarding experience, especially if you make plans to have it at Galena Lodge. This year the lodge will host a Thanksgiving Day dinner with all the trimmings, including turkey and ham as well as freshly baked apple, pecan and pumpkin pies and homemade breads.

"Last year was our first Thanksgiving and we served it family style," said Erin Zell, co-operator of Galena Lodge. "We encourage people to come on up, especially to check out some of our new upgrades."

Zell said Thanksgiving is a really nice time at Galena because people are coming up all day, whether it's to ski or have dinner, but they need to slow down their eating at the dinner table.

"Some people make a day of it, such as our regular patrons from Salt Lake City, and others stay in yurts for dinner," Zell said.

Though the new upgrades are not glorious—they include a new septic system and new windows—Zell hopes people will enjoy the improved lodge, which also has new menu items for the season. This year the lodge will serve its Full Moon dinners right after Thanksgiving Day, so there are plenty of vacation days to enjoy the beauty of Galena, especially in the moonlight.

The lodge will serve Thanksgiving dinner at 6:30 p.m., and reservations are required. Thanksiving dinner is $45 per person.

Full Moon dinners will take place Friday, Nov. 23, and Saturday, Nov. 24. They also require a reservation. Full Moon dinners are $40 per person.

For reseravations and more information, call 726-4010 or visit galenalodge.com. Galena Lodge is located 24 miles north of Ketchum off Highway 75.
