Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration and the international consulting firm Landrum & Brown will host two meetings to allow the public the opportunity to ask questions and comment on an environmental impact study being conducted prior to a decision on a new airport.
The scoping meetings will be held on Monday, Dec. 3., from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to noon. Both meetings will take place at the Community Campus in Hailey.
Landrum & Brown has been given the contract to manage the study, which will cost an estimated $4 million and take several years to complete.
A new airport has been proposed for southern Blaine County on at least 600 acres to replace Hailey's Friedman Airport by the year 2017. The FAA has ruled that Friedman is out of compliance with safety standards and could face sanctions on commercial air service.
