An 18-year-old Hailey man who was charged earlier this year with lewd conduct found himself behind bars again on Sunday for allegedly stealing a purse from a vehicle parked at Albertsons grocery story in Hailey.

Hailey police reported Monday that Uriah Z. Crain was arrested Sunday at about 11:30 p.m. after a woman complained that her purse had been stolen a few hours earlier.

Police Chief Jeff Gunter said the woman identified a suspicious vehicle that had been parked next to hers while she was in the store. Police later located the vehicle and arrested Crain, who allegedly got into the unlocked vehicle, took the purse, took $15 out of it and discarded the purse on a road near the store.

Gunter said Crain faces a felony burglary charge even though the amount allegedly stolen was small.

Crain was also arrested in May after allegedly assaulting a 13-year-old Hailey girl. A probable cause affidavit filed in the case by the Blaine County Sheriff's Office alleges that Crain viewed a cell phone video recording of the girl doing a striptease, located the girl and followed her and sexually assaulted her in a women's public restroom in downtown Hailey.

Crain was later indicted by a Blaine County grand jury on a charge of lewd conduct with a minor child under 16, an offense punishable in Idaho by up to life in prison.

A jury trial in that case is scheduled to start Feb. 12 in Blaine County 5th District Court.

Crain was free on $100,000 bond at the time of his arrest on the burglary charge.
