John Keith Hunt was born June 23, 1930, in Buhl, Idaho, the fifth and youngest child of Purcell and Stella Hunt. His family moved to Dietrich where he attended first grade. In 1937, they moved to Carey. Keith began school in the one-room schoolhouse at South Carey. He attended second and third grades there before moving to the "school in town."

Keith was an enthusiastic student and athlete. He enjoyed and lettered in all sports, especially excelling in baseball and boxing. His favorite class was speech with Mrs. Evans. He loved poetry and reciting for school and community programs. Keith served as student body president his senior year and graduated from Carey High School in 1948. He attended the University of Idaho in Moscow for one semester. While there, he received the "Boxer of the Year" award.

On Dec. 19, 1950, Keith married his high school sweetheart, Mary Blackwell, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. For the next 50-plus years, Keith and Mary worked, loved and lived life on their Little Wood farm.

Keith enjoyed working on community projects and was an avid supporter of the kids in their school activities. He rarely missed an athletic event, drama presentation or music concert. He received the "Booster of the Year" award several times. He loved young people and was happy to support them.

Keith was a member of the Carey LDS Church and served the Young Men's Organization in various capacities, including coaching the baseball teams. He worked many years on the Little Wood River Reservoir board and was also involved with the scouting program.

Survivors include his wife Mary of Carey; his brother Ronda Hunt of Twin Falls; sister Mildred Barton of Carey; daughters Dale Marie Hunt of Mackay, Joan (Frank) Goble of Ontario, Ore., Susan (Jerry) Weaver of Carey and Linda (Brian) Plew of Boise; six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
