Wood River High School varsity soccer teams fared well when season ending All-League honors were handed out in the Great Basin Conference West.

Fourth-year Wolverine girls' coach Greg Gvozdas (61-14-5) earned All-Great Basin West "Coach of the Year" honors for the third time in his four seasons at the Hailey varsity helm.

Gvozdas guided the Wolverines to their fourth consecutive Great Basin West soccer championship. Wood River (12-5-1) also won the State 4A tournament consolation title for the second time in four years.

"Player of the Year" in the Great Basin West was Wolverine senior sweeper Michelle McMurdo, a Camas County High School student and Wood River Valley native who played four seasons of soccer for Wood River High School in Hailey.

A number of Wolverine girls and boys also earned honors on All-Great Basin squads for the 2007 season. Team honors announced at Thursday night's team banquets will be revealed in next Wednesday's Express.
