Bellevue voters on Tuesday, Nov. 6, selected Steve Fairbrother, Larry Plott, and Gene Ramsey to serve on the six-member City Council.

Of Bellevue's 1,005 registered voters, nearly 18 percent cast ballots in the election, with Fairbrother taking the most votes, 152. Ramsey garnered 138 votes and Plott 106. With only three seats open, the fourth candidate, Josh Rand, narrowly missed out, receiving 96 votes.

Of the three council members whose terms will end in January, Vivian Ivie and Beth Robrahn are stepping aside, leaving only Steve Fairbrother to seek re-election. Ivie, who has served on the council for 18 years, will leave public office in anticipation of her retirement from her day job with the Blaine County Assessors Office. First-term Councilwoman Beth Robrahn chose not to contest her seat in order to avoid any potential conflicts of interest with her new job as Hailey planning director.

Fairbrother, an equine veterinarian, brought extensive experience to his campaign with two terms on the council under his belt and having served as mayor from 1999 to 2001.

Plott, who was the director of the state's law enforcement training academy for 22 years, has previously sat on the council, having been elected to a two-year term in 1998.

Like Plott, Ramsey, a 20-year resident of Bellevue, has an extensive law enforcement background and is currently the Blaine County chief deputy sheriff. This will be his first time in city government.
