Hailey police chief promotes officers

By TERRY SMITH
Express Staff Writer

Newly appointed Hailey Police Chief Jeff Gunter didn't waste any time in promoting some of his officers to a higher rank.

Gunter, who served as interim chief following the resignation in June of former chief Brian McNary, was officially named Hailey's top cop on Monday, Oct. 22.

He announced on Monday, Oct. 29, that Dave Stellers, previously a lieutenant, has been promoted to assistant police chief. Also, Steve England, previously a sergeant, has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant.

One other change: Doug Stewart, formerly a patrol officer, was promoted to sergeant.

Gunter said the announcements were made internally at a staff meeting last Friday.

"They've all been here with me and they're doing a very good job," he said. "It's their hard work that helped me get the promotion."
