Friday night, Wood River (1-7) wrapped up its season with a 63-14 setback to Idaho 4A top-ranked Blackfoot (9-0) in a "Great Eight" playoff game on the Bronco gridiron.
Blackfoot, ousted in the 2006 State 4A semi-finals by eventual state champ Pocatello 36-13, advanced into the highlight game of this weekend's State 4A playoff slate—taking on #2-ranked Minico (9-0) Friday at 3 p.m. at Holt Arena in Pocatello.
Other quarterfinals are #3-ranked Pocatello (6-3) against Jerome (6-3) Friday at 6 p.m. at Holt Arena in a rematch of last year's clash won by Pocatello 47-21; #4-ranked Nampa (7-3) against last year's state runner-up Bishop Kelly of Boise (5-4) Friday at Nampa; and #5-ranked Kuna (7-3) at Lakeland (6-2) Friday at Rathdrum.
