A Bellevue man who crashed an all-terrain vehicle in the Gannett area on Saturday was more seriously injured than reported in the Wednesday, Oct. 24, edition of the Idaho Mountain Express.

Forty-seven-year-old Michael Eakin was airlifted to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise following the mishap. His wife, Maria Eakin, said Wednesday that her husband is "doing great and is very much stable."

Maria Eakin said her husband underwent two surgeries for a broken left femur, a broken right hip socket, broken bones in his back and a bruised brain.

"He was really beat up," she said.

The Blaine County Sheriff's Office reported Monday that Michael Eakin was injured when he crashed a four-wheeler into an embankment on the old right-of-way road about one-half mile north of Gannett.

Michael Eakin was initially transported to St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center and airlifted to Boise from there.

Maria Eakin said she is grateful for all the support her family has received from friends of her husband.
